Statement Of Intent

Brief 1

I will design my magazine to educate 10-13 year olds on science, specifically chemistry; so my magazine will be called 'Electron'. This masthead will make sure the audience are able to tell what the genre of the magazine is and whether it will be something they want to buy. I will target my magazine at males as it is a common stereotype that only males are interested in the field of science. My magazine will include a main article about science practicals which are very appealing to the younger generation as assigned by the brief. My in depth method will help explain the interesting facts in an engaging manner to build a sense of passion towards the field of science. My product will include a free poster which will be a well thought out product in terms of marketing and selling. My aim while creating this magazine is to engage the younger generation in the art of science and to help them use science as an unpredictable, exciting escape in life.

I intend on mostly using blue as my main colour purely because it has conventions of a science magazine and I found this through the survey I conducted for my peer's response. In addition to this I will also be using close up shots to present how the science is almost being 'taught' to the reader. My cover lines are purely to do with chemistry which is the main topic that my article is about. For my font on the front cover I will select the Arbutus Slab font because it is a Slab Serif with generous spacing . This will be seen as a slightly more of a friendly font in comparison to the other ones and will therefore appeal to my target audience and make my magazine approachable.
